DP（Display Port）is the competitor of HDMI. On some graphics cards and monitors, there are both HDMI and DP ports. At present, the DP has been developed to version1.4, which can transmit 10bit 4K 120Hz video, and can also support 8K 60Hz video. DP1.4 is compatible with the USB Type-C, which means we can use the DP1.4 protocol to simultaneously transmit high-definition video while USB3.1 transmiting data. Refer to the trend, this is very beneficial for promoting the upgrade of peripheral audio-visual and video equipment. Meanwhile the DP can also transmit sound synchronously with a single line, so as to achieve the way of monitor sound.

 The DP port defines two types of connectors, Full size and Mini DP, both connectors are 20pins, but the width of the Mini DP is about half of the Full size. Some high-end monitors will have a DP output port, such as the BenQsw series products. The fastest mode in DisplayPort 2.0 will achieve a raw bandwidth of 80 Gbps, which is about 2.5 times that of DisplayPort 1.3/1.4. In addition, DisplayPort 2.0 also introduced a more efficient encoding scheme, then improving the efficiency of encoding. The effective bandwidth of the new standard will peak at 77.4 Gbps, three times that of the previous generation.
